Matthew 24:37-44 Jesus said to his disciples: “As it was in the days of Noah, so it will be at the coming of the Son of Man. In those days before the flood, they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, up to the day that Noah entered the ark. They did not know until the flood came and carried them all away. So will it be also at the coming of the Son of Man. Two men will be out in the field; one will be taken, and one will be left. Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken, and one will be left. Therefore, stay awake! For you do not know on which day your Lord will come. Be sure of this: if the master of the house had known the hour of night when the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and not let his house be broken into. So too, you also must be prepared, for at an hour you do not expect, the Son of Man will come.”

Announcing a new initiative of the Respect Life Office for all on Staten Island – Witness Formation Day. After the premier of the movie Unplanned this Spring—depicting the conversion story of Abby Johnson, a former Planned Parenthood manager—and in the aftermath of the devastating law permitting abortions until the moment of birth, many people have expressed a desire to pray and witness to the sanctity of human life outside abortion facilities. With the FIRST 40 Days for Life Campaign on Staten Island this September, it is important to give people the underlying spiritual and practical formation—the why’s and how to’s—for praying outside of an abortion facility. A Witness Formation Day will do just that. Please join us: Sat. Sept. 21st @ St. Rita ’ s Church Day begins with Mass at 9AM and ends at 2:30PM Register at: http://bit.ly/WitnessDays Suggested $10 donation at the door to cover coffee, snacks & lunch.

The Corona Self-Help Center (D.A.) is an organization that works with individuals and families suffering from substance abuse problems free of charge. D.A.’s recovery programs are drug-free residential settings, with treatment stages reflecting increased levels of personal and social responsibilities. With an approach similar to other 12-step programs, D.A. particularly serves those most in need. All D.A. representatives are former drug addicts who have found a new lease on life because of the spiritual component and programs offered to them by D.A. They will be passing a message and fundraising with the T-Shirts they print to support their cause next weekend at all the Masses.
